Lazy Sunday CXLIII: Food II

Yours portly loves food, and if my constantly fluctuating weight is any indication, I have a contentious relationship with it.  Food for us fatties is like a narcotic to the addict:  we know we shouldn’t eat so much of it, but it numbs us to the harsh realities of life.  Conquering the hold food has over us is an eternal struggle.

So here I have some classic posts about food (or the lack thereof):

  1. By morning of Tuesday 26th March, Tina and I will have gone 40 days and 40 nights without alcohol. That might not mean much to you, being a teetotaler but this has been hard. Ever since I drank my first pint of Old Peculiar with my dad on my 18th, I haven’t gone a month, heck, a fortnight without a pint or glass of something. We’re going to fast next Lent instead. I could certainly do with losing a couple of stone. The other day, I tried to run before I could walk and that was a big mistake – my quads have only just healed.

Diet (after Easter), light to moderate exercise and the occasional glass of Merlot. That’s the ticket!

    • Good for you for making the effort, my friend. I think your plan for next year is a great one! But kudos to you for sacrificing something truly difficult—that makes the sacrifice that much more meaningful. Also, I know that first drink after Lent will be smashing!
