Phone it in Friday LVIII: YouTube Roundup XIV: Bull Terrier Edition, Part VI

The Murphtent (Murphy content) on my humble YouTube channel has really helped the channel grow.  Unfortunately, I’ve been stalled at about 126 subs (at the time of writing) for about a couple of weeks.  Perhaps you, dear readers, can make some magic happen?  Wouldn’t it be glorious for yours portly to be monetizing his fat dog by the end of the year?  All it takes is 500 subs and 3000 (!!!) watch hours.  I’m sure some of you know 500 people with unlimited free time, hmmm?  I know for a fact that several of my readers have nothing but free time.  Get to watchin’!

In all seriousness, here is what to expect this week:  Murphy ensconced in pillowy comfort; Murphy sunbathing; and a special guest appearance by my dad’s dogs (and my unfortunate father) at a local graveyard—spooky!:

Open Mic Adventures LXXIII: “Blue Mage”

On 2 May 2024—the day that is exactly twenty-six weeks, or halfway, to Halloween—I’ll be releasing Four Mages, a color-coded collection of fantasy-inspired instrumental music.  I’m really excited for this release (which consists of ten tracks, not just the four mages of the title), and I hope it will capture imaginations with its whimsical, mysterious, fantastical feel.

The first piece I composed for the album is today’s feature, “Blue Mage.”  I then immediately composed “Red Mage,” its companion piece, which I will feature next week.  Honestly, I like “Red Mage” better, but “Blue Mage” captures the more mystical, esoteric side of this album.  “Red Mage,” on the other hand, is more lively and whimsical.

Lazy Sunday CXLII: Murphy Vids, Part I

I’ve been posting videos of Murphy to my YouTube channel, and they’ve been catching on quite nicely.  It seems that narrating my fat dog’s antics is an easy way to distract people from their bitter ennui for a few seconds—or, you know, people just like cute dogs.

Whatever the case, I’m never one to work harder than necessary, so I’ve been posting compilations of Murphy’s videos to this humble blog.  Now I’m sharing the first three of these posts here.

“Where are the links to the videos, Port?” I hear you cry.  Reposting them here defeats the point of Lazy Sunday.  So click on the original posts and find three succulent videos each—a total of nine toothsome morsels of canine cantankerousness:

Happy Sunday—and Happy Viewing!

Phone it in Friday LV: YouTube Roundup XI: Bull Terrier Edition, Part III

My humble YouTube channel has been thriving of late (112 subscribers at the time of writing, largely due to Murphy‘s popularity.  It turns out people love dogs—who knew?

So I’m keeping a good thing going and continuing my Attenborough-esque “documentaries” of Murphy’s amusing habits.  Here we’ll see her at night, at home, and in the early morning.

Phone it in Friday LIV: YouTube Roundup X: Bull Terrier Edition, Part II

My YouTube channel continues to grow; at the time of writing, I have 97 subscribers—tantalizingly close to 100.

The source of this growth is my chubby bull terrier, Murphy.  I started doing David Attenborough-style nature “documentaries” about her various exploits and foibles, and people sure seem to love my sassy, fat, adorable dog.

This week I’m showcasing some more Murphy content (Murphtent?) for your viewing delectation.

Ponty Praises: Ghost of Tsushima (2020)

Yours portly has been giving Ponty a bit of ribbing about writing his rebuttal to my Caldecott Award-winning review of Donnie Darko (1999).  Please know, dear readers (and dear Ponty) that it’s all a spot of fun; I know Ponty is a busy man.

Indeed, he’s been busy replaying 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima, a samurai action-adventure epic.  Just reading through his review, I was blown away by two things:  how realistic the trees in the game look (you’ll see what I mean below) and the love and dedication with which Ponty approaches his reviews.  Game journalism might be rigged in the mainstream publications, but not here at The Portly Politico.  With Ponty’s in-depth analysis, you’re getting the best video game reviewing and analysis of our time.

That might sound like hyperbole, but TPP is blessed to host some great writers.  Ponty’s video game and film reviews always deliver.  In this case, I’m eager to pick up and try Ghost of Tsushima myself… but I don’t have a PS4 or PS5!  Here’s hoping for a port to the Nintendo Switch or the PC.

In the meantime, I can live vicariously through Ponty’s thirteenth-century samurai escapades—and so can you!

With that, here is Ponty’s review of 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima:

Phone it in Friday LIII: YouTube Roundup IX: Bull Terrier Edition, Part I

How many Roman numerals can one man slam into one blog post title?  Three (III), apparently.

But you’re not here for the Roman numerals (or are you?)—you’re here for low-quality, mass-produced, trashy content.  This week, I’ve got the goods—the stinky, fetid, nasty goods.

Actually, it’s all quite family-friendly.  This week, I’m featuring some recent YouTube Shorts of my chubby, sassy bull terrier, Murphy.
