Murphy is back in the spotlight with this week’s edition of Phone it in Friday/YouTube Roundup. I haven’t been churning out low-quality content as much lately (unless you include my rambling scribblings on this blog), so I’ve just got a couple of Murphtastic vids to share.

Yours portly has been pretty lazy this past week. Sure, I taught some lessons and have been rehearsing for a gig with my musician friend Sarah in August, but otherwise I’ve been losing myself in Civilization VI and lounging like a French duke living on welfare. I mean, I also finished composing an album this past weekend, but by my standards, I’ve been loafing like a senior before graduation.
So, in the spirit of churning out a blog post with minimal effort and maximum returns, I’m sharing some of my recent YouTube shorts. These do not feature my lovable dog, Murphy, so your mileage may vary.
Videos this week feature a dusty windowsill covered in toys; yours portly LARPing as a hobo; and a twist on the Nativity:
After a bit of a dip in views, Murphy is starting to earn his keep again with the latest round of Murphtent (Murphy content). Considering I feed, bathe (sometimes), clothe (not really), and shelter her, the least she can do is get strangers to gawk at her lazy antics on YouTube… right?
Well, it turns out yours portly can only come up with so many ways to narrate his dog sleeping, so I just have two Murphy videos this week—but they’re good. Finger lickin’ and grass eatin’ good!
My fat dog Murphy is the gift that keeps on giving. Well, actually, she’s a huge drain on my financial and temporal resources, but, hey, who can put a price tag on love?
But back to that gift giving comment. Murphy does bring in the views to my YouTube channel, which—like most of my artistic endeavors—would probably be a massive flop if I didn’t have a cute, sassy, ornery dog to showcase to the content-hungry masses.

The Murphtent (Murphy content) on my humble YouTube channel has really helped the channel grow. Unfortunately, I’ve been stalled at about 126 subs (at the time of writing) for about a couple of weeks. Perhaps you, dear readers, can make some magic happen? Wouldn’t it be glorious for yours portly to be monetizing his fat dog by the end of the year? All it takes is 500 subs and 3000 (!!!) watch hours. I’m sure some of you know 500 people with unlimited free time, hmmm? I know for a fact that several of my readers have nothing but free time. Get to watchin’!
In all seriousness, here is what to expect this week: Murphy ensconced in pillowy comfort; Murphy sunbathing; and a special guest appearance by my dad’s dogs (and my unfortunate father) at a local graveyard—spooky!:

My humble YouTube channel continues to grow (121 subscribers at the time of writing) thanks to Murphy‘s popularity. She loves the camera, and the people love Murphy.
My YouTube channel continues to grow, albeit a bit more slowly. At the time of writing, I have seventy-seven (77) subscribers.
Regardless of the rate of growth, I am having a blast with the format. There’s still so much I need to learn, but it’s fun putting these videos together. It’s also been a great outlet for my composing, and I’ve gotten into something of a schedule: LEGO- and LEGO-adjacent build videos on Mondays, and compositions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
I have three good ones this week, featuring Moses, Napoleon, and steampunk.
I have a YouTube channel. At the time of writing, my subscriber count is at sixty-three, so it seems to be growing at a steady trickle.
