Open Mic Adventures LXXXVIII: “Angularity”

Yours portly released a new album last week, Heptadic Structure.  It’s an exploration of pieces in 7/4, 7/8, and 7/16 time.  Each piece is twenty-one written measures, for a total of 147 measures across the seven pieces.  Math is fun!

This week I’m featuring the second track from the album, a duet for violin and cello called “Angularity“:

“Angularity” plays with the idea of seventh intervals, and I really like how this piece came out in the end:

It has a certain upbeat feel that is sprightly and melodic, with a great deal of rhythmic motion.
