Open Mic Adventures LXIII: “FRANTIC!!”

Not every musical piece is destined for greatness.  Nor is every piece designed to be beautiful.  Such is this case with this week’s piece, “FRANTIC!!

The last composition in my last music journal, “FRANTIC!!” is designed to induce a sense of frenetic anxiety in both the listener and the performer. Even the super short musical score is arranged to confound the performer, even though the piece is actually quite easy to play.

And here’s the same video on YouTube:

Here is the final score, which I partially colorized to give it a kind of Italian giallo feel:

Finally, here is the original, scribbled manuscript—the last bit of original composing in my last music journal:

Happy—or, perhaps, anxiety-inducing!—listening!

  1. Tina said that sounds like the music for an early 80s platform game. She’s not wrong. 😉

I still say you should put your compositions together and see what you come up with.

    • Hahaha, she is correct!

I actually have another album of instrumental music dropping on 2 February 2024, and it includes “FRANTIC!!” In a way, that will blend together these different shorter compositions. But I also would like to take snippets of some of these shorter tunes and put them together into longer works. Most of these mini-miniatures are the most basic ideas, and almost all of them could be fleshed out into longer pieces.
