For the next few weeks I’ll be featuring YouTube videos of the seven tracks from the album.  Today we’re starting with the title track, “Heptadic Structure“:

Unlike my other releases, I did not prewrite all of the pieces on this album, but I did with “Heptadic Structure” (you can see the handwritten manuscript below).  That piece was the genesis of the idea to write an album of songs entirely in 7/X time signatures.

“Heptadic Stucture” is a piece for electric piano and drums (and I think there’s a bass part in there, too).  It is probably the most “electronic” of the pieces on the album:

Here is the prewriting for “Heptadic Structure,” which started with the 7/16 section on 11 April 2024, followed by the 7/4 and 7/8 sections on 12 April 2024.
