Open Mic Adventures XLVIII: “Skeleton Dance No. 2”

I’m hosting a FREE online listening party for Spooky Season on Sunday, 1 October 2023, at 7 PM Eastern Standard Time.  You can RSVP here.

After the unusual success of “Skeleton Dance No. 1” on YouTube, I knew it was time to compose “Skeleton Dance No. 2.”  As is often the case with sequels, “Skeleton Dance No. 2” is far more developed and fleshed-out (no pun intended) than its predecessor.

Of the two, “No. 2” is probably my favorite.  It has such a delightfully Halloween-y sound to it:

Naturally, it made it (in digital form) onto Spooky Season.  There’s also sheet music available for purchase here, here, and here.  I’ve arranged it as a duet for right-hand piano and bass clarinet, with the piano’s left-hand improvised in chords.  Eventually, I’ll write a proper left-hand piano part, but the improvisation works well.

Here’s the video again on YouTube:

I haven’t made a video for the digital version yet, but that might be a fun treat for Halloween.

If you want to learn more about “Skeleton Dance No. 2” and my other spooky compositions, I’m hosting a FREE online listening party for Spooky Season on Sunday, 1 October 2023, at 7 PM Eastern Standard Time.  You can RSVP here.

Happy Listening!
