Open Mic Adventures CXLI: “Vibin'”

Yours portly has three separate releases that I plan to now release in early September, as my distributor, CD Baby, usually takes about three weeks to approve releases for distribution.  Two of the releases feature older works, but one will feature tons of new pieces.

This week, I’m featuring one of those new pieces, “Vibin'”:

“Vibin'” is a trio for vibraphone, harpsichord, and electric bass in 7/8 time.

Here’s the original manuscript:

Happy Listening!

    • Dude, are y’all coming to South Carolina?!

Isle of Palms is really nice. It’s in the Charleston, SC area. I don’t know as much about the beach, but there is tons to do in Charleston.

I haven’t been to Lake Greenwood, but it looks beautiful: https://southcarolinaparks.com/lake-greenwood

Keep in mind it’s pretty much on the opposite end of the State from Charleston, but still probably not a bad drive (maybe three or so hours?).

We have so many lovely State Parks. If y’all are coming, I’d recommend late fall or early spring—the temperatures won’t destroy you!

  1. Not yet but hopefully some day. I was having a look at holiday rentals on the site Vrbo for your state and there’s some really cool properties in some very idyllic areas. There are quite a few decent lakeside properties, Greenwood containing one. South Carolina is pretty diverse, landscape wise.

The drive wouldn’t bother me. I quite enjoy it. More preferable to flying which is boring. At least in a car, you can stop whenever you want to. I’d just need to learn to drive on your roads but I’m not without some practice; I’m pretty efficient on GTA! 😂

If we ever make it there, it’d be in the Autumn. Tina would struggle with your Summers and to be frank, Autumn is our favourite season. The colours are amazing and there’s something about early evening September/October sunsets that I adore. The lakes of SC look stunning.

    • Dude, autumn in South Carolina is gorgeous, especially in the Upstate (the broad term for the Greenwood/Greenville/Spartanburg/Anderson area). Of course, “autumn” doesn’t really get kicking here until maybe October. Late October/early November would be an ideal time to visit.

Oh, yeah, SC is very easy to get around by car. Most everything is only one or two hours from each other. When we would drive from my hometown of Aiken (western part of SC) to Myrtle Beach (eastern part of SC) as a kid, it would take about four hours, and that is because it’s literally the longest straight line across the State (I think). Also, we’d stop for lunch, snacks, gas, etc.

It truly is a wonderful State. We have mountains and beaches, and everything in between.

For reference, where I live currently is in the eastern Pee Dee region. I’m about two hours north of Charleston (Charleston is in the Lowcountry). Obviously, if you and Tina do come and visit, Dr. Fiancée and I will be sure to visit you wherever you are.
