My latest EP, Leftovers IV, is out today!  It should be on all streaming platforms, but as of the time of writing, my distributor, CD Baby, has yet to review the EP for release.  It’s $5, but with promo code ham it’s only $1.  My full discography typically goes for $72.14, but with promo code ham it’s $14.23, or roughly $0.55 per release.  Twenty-six albums, constituting over eight hours of music, for $0.55 per release is ludicrous.  But I need the money—desperately.  <–That’s not a joke, either.

I’ll be frank:  yours portly is struggling a bit financially.  I had to pay a massive federal income tax bill that wiped out most of my emergency savings.  The irony is that my tax bill was large not because I earn that much, but because I teach so many private music lessons.  I have to pay pretty steep taxes on those lessons, and even with various business expense write-offs, the tax burden is debilitating.

It’s partially my own fault:  I should have been paying estimated quarterly taxes.  I also should have increased the withholdings from my paycheck.  I’m wedged between two contradictory forces:  inflation has made day-to-day living so expensive, I need as much of my paycheck and my lessons income as possible just to make it by now.  At the same time, I need to withhold and pre-pay more taxes so I can make it by later.

I’m instituting austerity measures for the next few months, at least.  I’m limiting travel to seeing family and Dr. Girlfriend.  I’m cutting down on eating out, and will subsist on a diet of sandwiches and noodles and other cheap foods (Dr. Girlfriend is a wonderful cook, so I’ll eat better when I’m with her).

Speaking of Dr. Girlfriend, I’m also paying off an engagement ring.  I popped the Q on Saturday, and (presumably—I’m pre-scheduling this post) she said yes.

So, if you want to help a port out as he anticipates his new life, please consider buying my music.  Or my books.  Or leave a donation below.
