On Friday, I released Péchés d’âge moyen, my short collection of twelve original piano miniatures.  At the time of writing, I haven’t sold any downloads via Bandcamp, but its tracks have a total of 113 plays from forty unique listeners, which is pretty good.  Goth Kilts of The Sandwhich Press and Dr. Rachel Fulton Brown of Dragon Common Room have both been wonderful about promoting the recording via their respective channels.  I mean, considering GK was the muse for the whole project, she’d better be pitching it!

Anyway, it was fun putting the pieces together, and in the spirit of album promotion (get it here!), here are the four posts about the project:

• “Composing Humorous Miniatures” – This post details the beginning of the project, when I was just scribbling down tunes in my music journal for fun.  It features videos of each of the Three Ethiopian Rhapsodies (No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3) and “These are Difficult Times.”
• “Péchés d’âge moyen” – This post tells the story of Gioachino Rossini’s Péchés de vieillesse, the Sins of Old Age, a collection of 150 pieces he wrote in the final decade of his life.  I then explain my plans for Péchés d’âge moyen, and include a video recording of “L’il Divertimento in C major.”  At the time, I’d also apparently written “Minuet for a New Moon” and “Etude for Flashy Pianists.”
• “March Bandcamp Friday: New Release” – I made it! Péchés d’âge moyen posted at 6:10 AM EST on Friday, 4 March 2022.  Woooot!
• “SubscribeStar Saturday: Rapid-Fire Recording” – In order to meet my deadline, I had to make some compromises on the recording of Péchés d’âge moyen.  In this post, I detail how I managed to get everything done, recording in snatches of free time during a very busy week.
