Phone it in Friday LXXVIII: YouTube Roundup XXX: Assorted Foolishness

Right at the end of 2024, I churned out some truly absurd content for my YouTube channel.  I may have shared some of this content here on the blog, but I can’t quite remember—that whole festive season is now a foggy, happy blur.

Regardless, you’re in for a treat.  I’ve got a sultry, satin pillowcase; a pizza covered in Vidalia onions; and a glimpse back into the Christmases of yesteryear.

LEGO® Star Wars™ 2024 Advent Calendar – Days 4-10

The LEGO® Star Wars™ 2024 Advent Calendar keeps delivering the goods!  I have been super impressed with this year’s calendar, which seems to have a heavy focus on The Empire Strikes Back (1980), specifically the Battle of Hoth that opens the film.

In case you missed it, check out “LEGO® Star Wars™ 2024 Advent Calendar – Days 1-3” from last Wednesday, 4 December 2024 to see what goodies I uncovered the first three days.

Now, on with the building!

LEGO® Star Wars™ 2024 Advent Calendar – Days 1-3

As is my custom, I’ve obtained the LEGO® Star Wars™ 2024 Advent Calendar, and have been enjoying it immensely so far.  It seems to be themed around The Empire Strikes Back (1980) so far, with Luke’s X-Wing, cinnamon bun Leia, and a classic TIE Fighter.

Paid subscribers get to see these videos on the day I open each calendar door, but I’m posting the videos to YouTube the following day (for the most part).  I’ll also be sharing collections of multiple days of videos—like today’s post—throughout the Christmas Season.

Phone it in Friday LXXIII: YouTube Roundup XXIX: “CRAMPED!”; A Little Praise Report

Yours portly is still playing catch-up this Friday, so I’m really phoning it in.  I’m actually writing this hasty post mere minutes before my usual 6:30 AM EST posting deadline, so I’ll doubtless be a tad late with this post.

There isn’t one particular reason why I’ve fallen behind a bit on posting (and several other things!).  Life is good and my schedule at work is very manageable.  It’s mostly a situation of having several things to get done at once, combined with some long days of lessons and errands.

But I am very blessed.  Wednesday evening I was out running some errands—I needed to pick up ingredients for a taco dip I bring to parties, as the teachers had a “Friendsgiving” potluck meal yesterday—and my car battery died in the Taco Bell parking lot (that wasn’t for Friendsgiving; that was for me).

Phone it in Friday LXXII: YouTube Roundup XXVIII: “The Star-Spangled Banner”

It’s been a patriotic couple of weeks, and yours portly has fallen woefully behind on uploading hot new content to YouTube (and this blog).

The solution?  Phone it in with an impromptu, live rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the National Anthem of the United States.

My school had a home [American] football game on Friday, 1 November 2024.  Yours portly had neglected to recruit a student to sing the Anthem, as is my school’s Friday night custom.  I decided instead to play it on my sax once I realized my mistake.

When I got to school that night, it hit me that I’d made a terrible mistake:  I’d left my beautiful blue Slade saxophone at home!  But yours portly is the king of the last-minute solution, and I remembered that I had a student’s horn in my classroom.

Fortunately, the kid had some good reeds (I owe him one), and after a little warming up, I was ready to roll!
