Phone it in Friday LXXXVII: YouTube Roundup XXXVII: Ancient Alien Technology

Yours portly recently dug into his Drawer of Forgotten Technology and found some unusual bits of ancient alien (well, human) technology.  I’m currently trying to sell them on eBay (here and here).  In writing their listings, I made short little videos and uploaded them to YouTube; I want to share those videos today.

I wrote extensively about this technology on Wednesday in my post “Ancient Alien Technology“; now, here are the promised videos.

Phone it in Friday LXXXIV: YouTube Roundup XXXIV: Stroopwafel Series

At the end of the 2023-2024 school year, teachers were given three tickets to put towards different items in an end-of-the-school-year raffle.  The items varied in quality and value, ranging from random coffee stuff to an Amazon gift card.  Naturally, the big(ger)-ticket items attracted the most tickets, so yours portly played the odds:  I put all three of my tickets in the random assortment of coffee stuff.

I was not surprised, but was still excited, when I won the item.  The coffee was pretty good, and I still have the basket and the mug that came with it.  But the best part of the collection was the box of Stroopwafels (that’s an Amazon Affiliate link; I receive a portion of any purchase made through that link, at no additional cost to you—and you should definitely get some Stroopwafels).

If you’ve never had them before, the concept is simple:  you pour your steaming hot cup of coffee, then place a Stroopwafel on top of the mug for a few minutes.  The result is that the delicious caramel filling heats up to an oozy, flavorful consistency, and you have the perfect companion snack to accompany your cup of joe.

Naturally, a man of my generous proportions enjoyed this toothsome Dutch treat.  What I enjoyed almost as much as the Stroopwafels, though, was making a truly absurd, three-part YouTube Shorts series based on the flavorful concoction.

Phone it in Friday LXXVIII: YouTube Roundup XXX: Assorted Foolishness

Right at the end of 2024, I churned out some truly absurd content for my YouTube channel.  I may have shared some of this content here on the blog, but I can’t quite remember—that whole festive season is now a foggy, happy blur.

Regardless, you’re in for a treat.  I’ve got a sultry, satin pillowcase; a pizza covered in Vidalia onions; and a glimpse back into the Christmases of yesteryear.

LEGO® Star Wars™ 2024 Advent Calendar – Days 4-10

The LEGO® Star Wars™ 2024 Advent Calendar keeps delivering the goods!  I have been super impressed with this year’s calendar, which seems to have a heavy focus on The Empire Strikes Back (1980), specifically the Battle of Hoth that opens the film.

In case you missed it, check out “LEGO® Star Wars™ 2024 Advent Calendar – Days 1-3” from last Wednesday, 4 December 2024 to see what goodies I uncovered the first three days.

Now, on with the building!

LEGO® Star Wars™ 2024 Advent Calendar – Days 1-3

As is my custom, I’ve obtained the LEGO® Star Wars™ 2024 Advent Calendar, and have been enjoying it immensely so far.  It seems to be themed around The Empire Strikes Back (1980) so far, with Luke’s X-Wing, cinnamon bun Leia, and a classic TIE Fighter.

Paid subscribers get to see these videos on the day I open each calendar door, but I’m posting the videos to YouTube the following day (for the most part).  I’ll also be sharing collections of multiple days of videos—like today’s post—throughout the Christmas Season.

Phone it in Friday LXVII: YouTube Roundup XXIII: Sleeper Disappointments

Yours portly uploads a bunch of content to YouTube.  Most of those videos only get a handful of views.

A couple of weeks ago, I looked at “sleeper hits,” the videos that did better than I thought they would (which, to be honest, is every video).  Today, I’m looking at videos that did as poorly as expected.  In doing so, I’m hoping you, dear reader, can help give these little compositions the love they deserve.

Phone it in Friday LXVI: YouTube Roundup XXII: Sleeper Hits

Yours portly uploads a bunch of content to YouTube.  Most of those videos only get a handful of views (other than the shorts of Murphy, which usually garner a few hundred views).

Sometimes, though, for inexplicable reasons, one of my musical compositions—which usually clock views in the single digits, or maybe in the 20s-30s—will take off and get a (relatively) large amount of engagement.  That still might only translate to a 100 views or so, but it’s always fun when it happens.

So this week, I’m looking at some “sleeper hits” in this installment of YouTube Roundup.
