It’s that time of year again, when every blogger, YouTuber, commentator, content creator, etc., looks back wistfully at the dying year, reviewing the highs, the lows, and the creamy middles.
In the grand tradition of this blog, it’s time to review The Worst Posts of 2023.
Some clarifications and definitions are in order. By “worst,” I don’t mean qualitatively, but quantitatively. After all, in the Internet Age, how else do we judge the relative merit of something than by how many other people have gawked at it?
So it is that this list consists of posts written in 2023 with the lowest views. There were other posts that received lower views on the blog this year, but were not written in this calendar year.
To recap: I’m looking at the least-viewed posts of 2023 (as of the time of writing, on 14 December 2023). These posts could technically have some views from mid-December 2022, but I have no way of breaking down the numbers with that degree of granularity.
Every post here received four views each, so I set that as the threshold. It’s still a pretty big list!
Blah, blah, blah—on with the list!
- “SubscribeStar Saturday: Baccalaureate Service 2023” – My sermon for the 2023 baccalaureate service. Y’all are missing out—it was a good one.
- “SubscribeStar Saturday: Tinkering” – An essay about my failure to get a virtual machine working on my computer. It’s also the first of three posts from June, which was a slow month for the blog.
- “Lazy Sunday CCVI: Intergalactic Nonsense” – A Lazy Sunday about space!
- “Lazy Sunday CCVII: Stories” – Another Lazy Sunday, this time about some great short stories.
- “Lazy Sunday CCXIV: D.C., Part II” – A Lazy Sunday linking to posts about my hellish trip to Washington, D.C.
- “Open Mic Adventures LIII: ‘Andante in D major’” – A post featuring a piece from Péchés d’âge moyen, “Andante in D major“; it’s a sweet little lo-fi tune that I enjoy, with some vaguely Impressionistic shades.
- “Daylight Savings Time Ends” – A filler post following my ankle break and a particularly busy time for yours portly.
- “Open Mic Adventures LIV: ‘I Need Thee Every Hour’” – A YouTube Short of yours portly tickling the ivories.
- “New Release Out Today: ‘Leftovers‘” – This one hurt—the day my latest release debuted, no one read the post about it!
So, how about give these neglected posts some love? C’mon, you know you want to read them.
Happy New Year!

It’s a shame this blog site has never really opened up to a bigger readership. I’d hoped some from TCW would do more than just pop over every now and then but stay. When a movie review or the like goes up, they comment over there rather than here. I think I’m the future, I’ll let them know that replies should come here instead before I respond.
By the way, Tina and I have started playing Stray for the PS5. Both you and Audre will like it. Little Nightmares style animation and stratagem but you’re playing a cat. There’s even a button to meow – how cool! 😂

I appreciate everything you’ve done to draw some traffic here. I always see a big spike when you share a link over there. I’m glad that folks are at least discussing the reviews, but, yes, it would be awesome if they commented here.
Stray looks really fun! I remember when it released, and it was getting rave reviews. If you want to review it, that would be awesome.

I’ll have to complete it first. We’ve enjoyed what we’ve played so far and there are some intriguing aspects about it, certainly in the controls.
Then it’s onto The Elden Ring and the remake of Alex Kidd, a blast from the past. Apparently you can play the latter in the original 8 bit which is exactly what I’ll be doing!

Sure thing. Of course, I’m sure you can get the gist of it with a few hours of gameplay to crank out a review—eh? Eeeeeh? : D
Good old A. Kidd. That will probably be a nice break from TER’s difficultly.
