We Are All Deplorables Now

In lieu of my usual Monday Morning Movie Review, I thought it would be better to discuss the assassination attempt on President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.  I have never witnessed something so brazen, so violent, and so reckless in this country.

Yes, people are shot every day in the United States; that is a tragedy of its own.  But an attempted assassination of the political leader of one of America’s two major political parties, who represents a grassroots movement of disaffected and neglected constituencies who believe—correctly—that their leader is the target of systemic persecution on the part of the federal government, is an entirely different animal.

Had the bullet struck true, this country would—rightly, and righteously—be in flames this morning.  We may still be heading that way yet.

Whatever your opinion of President Trump’s policies and personality, there is no justification for attempting his murder.  Those monsters bemoaning the fact that the shooter missed are too evil and/or stupid to understand how terrible political violence is—and that they’d be ground to dust in a civil war.

Based on the information we have available at this time, I have to believe that God Protected President Trump from that bullet.  Didact of Didactic Mind sums it up thusly in his post “They tried to kill the King” (emphasis and link are Didact’s):

…JUST before the first shot rings out, Donaldus Magnus moves his head just slightly to the right.

That one slight movement almost certainly saved his life, because the bullet just grazed the top of his right ear. If he had not moved his head, that bullet would have hit skull and brains – and he would likely be DEAD.

Nothing short of Divine intervention saved him yesterday

By the way, I have American friends who are expert shots. They tell me that, at the distances involved, with the kind of weapon the shooter used – a card-carrying Omega, by the way, no doubt or question about it – they could not possibly have missed. I believe them.

A turn of his head may very well have saved the Republic—at least, what is left of it.

YouTuber Razörfist released a video that really gets to the heart of where we are right now:

Just as Trump implored his followers to “Fight, Fight, Fight!” after the shooting, Razör echoes that sentiment:  we will not give up.

We are all Deplorables now.  Donald Trump will be President on 20 January 2025.

God Bless America!

—TPP

P.S.—Prayers go out to the victims of the shooting.  At the time of writing, one man is dead from the assassin’s bullet, and two people are injured.  They did not deserve to die; let us assure they did not die in vain.

  1. “… a pair of parentheses …” – hilarious.

One has to wonder if the Democrat Party is the heart of darkness or Satan’s best friends. Antifa- D; BLM-D; support for rioters-D; gender confusion nonsense-D; math is racist-D …. the list is endless. But WE, us Republicans, WE are deplorable. Us MAGA people will kill democracy, kill the ability to kill babies, go after our detractors (another thing the Ds do); I don’t know, I can’t even name all the things President Trump will do – according to them – that they haven’t already done in spades.

The election division of the State of Florida has sent us the ballot we can expect to see come November – for in-State elections; judges, school board, senators, etc. I want to remind everyone that in order to get the White House, the Congress, and the Senate, you MUST vote for all the down ticket Republicans. If there are any stinkers, we can take care of that after the election. Don’t forget to research your judges and school board candidates. If you have to vote for a dog catcher, research that person, too.

    • It’s classic psychological projection: you project onto your opponent all the things you are already doing.

I am pretty undone with the Republican Party as an institution, but I agree—we need to stack the deck as much as possible. Get out the Dems at least, then we can clear out the bad and/or fake Republicans later.

I think the bigger concern is staffing the executive branch with Trumpists and American Firsters, and firing probably 90% of the people already there. Congress is an increasingly powerless institution if we don’t have the federal bureaucracy willing to enforce its laws.

  2. Interesting view. I agree that killing is bad no matter who’s dying. Personally I believe this was staged, but who knows? I will take what you write to heart. Thanks for sharing!

    • I know you’re not fond of Trump, so I appreciate your openness.

If this were staged, it was staged by the FBI, the CIA, and maybe even the Secret Service. Multiple attendees saw a shooter on the roof and informed law enforcement and the Secret Service, both of which did nothing until shots were fired.

Whatever the Truth is, it was a terrible moment in my nation’s history, and had the bullet struck, I think we’d be disintegrating this morning. Thank God it didn’t!

      • Yeah, it’s important to be open and respect other’s opinions. Otherwise we can never have discussions and learn from other people and have a better world.

I have no idea what happened, but that’s horrible if what you say is true.

        • I agree 100%.

I don’t know if what I am saying is accurate; it’s just conjecture at this point (but what I said about rally attendees warning police and Secret Service is true—it’s on video). But I do think it was a real attempt on the President’s life. I definitely do not think the Trump campaign set it up just for a good photo op.

Most likely, a deranged young man thought he was doing the right thing, because he’d been told his entire life that “Trump is Hitler.” If you had the chance to go back in time and kill Hitler, you’d probably do it, right? So this kid thought he was saving America by killing the baddy.

The difference is that Trump is not Hitler. Really, he’s a 1990s Democrat. He just wants the US government to operate in the interest of the American people, not a narrow elite; to secure our border; and to restore our national self-confidence. These are not wicked goals; indeed, they’re kind of the bare minimum for any nation that wants to remain a nation for any length of time. But somehow wanting what is best for your own citizens—and not some other country’s citizens—is “worse than Hitler.” Ay yi yi!

It would be like me demanding that the Swedish government pay me welfare benefits. That would not be fair to you, a native of Sweden. Your government would be foolish to do pay me those benefits. What benefit do I bring to Sweden? Further, I’m not even Swedish, nor do I live there!

  3. Our media are still running with ‘the shooter was a Republican’ angle. 🙈

I think it’s obvious to anyone that the guy took Republican membership so that he could get close to the President.

  4. No matter which side of the political fence one sits on, this was an absolute affront and no one should think otherwise. Lives were lost and others were injured. No one should be endorsing this type of thing regardless of who the target is.
That’s as close as I will get to a “political” commentary.

  5. During the primaries, democrats were registering to vote Republican so they could cast a vote against Trump and for Nicky Haily or Christi at the time. All orchestrated by Dems since they pretty much had nothing to do for their primaries.
